The Power of Gratitude
As I get ready to host a Reiki Open House next Saturday, January 25th at Holmes Camp and Retreat Center in Holmes, NY, I wanted spend some time sharing with you about the power of gratitude. For me, gratitude is the core Reiki principle. Embrace gratitude and you will indeed “change everything”. Reiki founder, Mikao Usui, identified the power of gratitude nearly 100 years ago as the antidote for anger and worry. But how does it work?
Gratitude is the beginning to opening to a new way of being. It is a heart-centered energy. When we connect with gratitude, we shift into an energy of expansion rather than contraction. We change the frequency of the energy of our thoughts and what we are broadcasting to the world. When we move into gratitude, we raise our frequency signature and we rise above the energy of duality.
Gratitude brings us into the present moment. As we begin to count our blessings, gratitude pulls us out of living in the past and feeling like a victim of circumstances. Gratitude stops us from worrying about the future and all the “what if’s” that may or may not happen. The past and the future set the mind and ego on a preoccupation hamster wheel focused on everything BUT the present moment.
As Albert Einstein said, “Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”
The energy of duality is an energy of polarity, opposing forces, competition and separation. To rise above duality, we need to move into unity. Gratitude provides the pathway to raise our vibration. With gratitude we can shift our focus towards possibility, potential and positivity. Our change of perspective gives us a new view of the world beyond the chaos of drama which consumes daily news events.
We thrive when leading with our hearts. A heart full of gratitude allows us to live with generosity, love, patience and compassion. A reality centered in deep gratitude soars above the turbulence of duality. As your stress levels rise, take time for a gratitude break. Even if only for a few moments. This is an act of self-love. Breathe. Settle down. Leave fear behind. Re-center your energy in your heart. Focus on what is available, what is possible and gratitude for all the blessings in your life.
